HERO volunteers operate under the protection of California's Good Samaritan laws, which specify:
No person who in good faith, and not for compensation, renders emergency medical or nonmedical care or assistance at the scene of an emergency shall be liable for civil damages resulting from any act or omission other than an act or omission constituting gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct.
For HERO to be covered under the Good Samaritan laws, HERO must establish that "a scene of an emergency" exists by either seeing or hearing an injured person calling for help before HERO can force entry to rescue that person.
HOWEVER, if you are concerned about your ability to get to the door when we knock or be heard if injured, you may pre-authorize HERO to force entry and conduct a search of your property by clicking here to download the HERO Request and Hold Harmless Agreement form. Print, fill in and sign.
You may send the signed form to HERO by one of the following methods:
1. Mail to:
Hilltop Emergency Response Organization

2. Fax to: 310-391-3887
