HERO is an all-volunteer Civilian
Urban Search & Rescue team, possibly the 1st in the USA.
HERO formed in 2015. We are an all-volunteer organization
with a rolling membership which means we are viable only when enough new people
volunteer to replace those who move or age-out.
We have maintained a trained workforce of around 35 for the
last 11 years.
We have jobs with written One-Page procedures for all ages over
18 and physical abilities.
Our five teams are:
1)
Command Center Operations for those who can document,
think under pressure and manage others.
2)
Damage Survey for those who can drive, look, and
knock on doors.
3)
Search and Rescue for those who can lift 50 lbs. (a stretcher’s corner)
and carry it 50 feet.
4)
Medical for non-hemophobics willing to learn
and give Advanced First Aid and Life Support.
5)
Transport for those with vans or trucks.
See the ORGANIZATION page for more info on what each team
does.
Training for New Members (Refresher for current Members) has
been moved from March to October this year to be in sync with
a Hilltop residents preparedness education campaign HERO will be running.
